Brief Bio
Joining CIPRA Slovenia, an NGO for protection of the Alps in 2001 was my bridge between geography and the Alps. Since then, my professional and also free time activities are closely related to mountains and especially the Alps and Dinaric Mountains. In 2003, I started working at Department of Geography at Faculty of Arts at University of Ljubljana, where I still work today. In 2013 we started course Geography of Mountains and Protected Areas on master course of Geography. I combine pedagogical work with field work and different research fields of mountain geography, such as mountain climate (precipitation gradients in the Alps, temperature conditions in Alpine and Dinaricfrost holes), mountain identity, mountain pasturing and mountain-oriented education. Traffic related air pollution is also my field of research, especially NO2 pollution along the main roads in Slovenia.
From 2009 I am a president of CIPRA Slovenia, a Slovenian branch of CIPRA International, an NGO for protection of the Alps. Our main activities are focused in sustainable mobility management in tourist Alpine areas, sustainable development on local level, youth involvement in Alpine related problems and in implementation of Alpine Convention on local level.
