Brief Bio
Prof. Santosh Kumar has been an academic in the area of Politics, Public Policy, Governance and Administration. Having pursued his academics at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), University of Glasgow (on a short-term Fellowship from Commonwealth) and Delhi University, his professional career commenced with Tata Institute of Social Sciences, and subsequently, he has been associated with various Universities of national and international repute, in different capacities of academics and administration. Each of these positions involved a combination of research, teaching and policy interventions.
He has also developed inter and trans disciplinary curricula and syllabi in the various Major of Liberal Arts and on Human Development and Social Accountability for various academic institutions of South Asian countries, including BRAC University, Dhaka, ASCI, Hyderabad, TISS, etc. His work on Alternative Paradigms of Development in the Semi-Arid and Arid Regions of India (special emphasis on the Deccan Plateau) led to development of a one-year programme on Sustainable Development for the Semi-Arid and Arid region of Ladakh.
While for the state of Gujarat, he has been in the policy formulation and implementation in the field of Human Development, Health Insurance, Planning for Even Development across Districts, Solar and Alternative Energy Policy, etc. At each stage while interspersed with research and administrative responsibilities he has taught varied subjects, relating to Social and Human Development, Rural Livelihoods, Citizen-Centric Administrative perspectives, Public Policy etc. with the backdrop of Social Accountability in the Service Delivery Context.
