Association of Professional Social Workers and Development Practitioners

Association of Professional Social Workers and Development Practitioners (herein after refer to as APSWDP/ Association), is a not for profit civil society organisation registered with NITI Ayog, India (former planning commission); recently being conferred Special Consultative Status with United Nations Economic and Social Council (UN-ECOSOC) and affiliation under Department of Global Communications (UN-DGC) since 2019.

APSWDP works at grass root level focuses on creating a nationwide global network of dedicated social work professionals and development practitioners. The associationparticularly emphasis on encouraging individuals from remote geographical rural areas, to discuss, debate and develop key framework on evidence and practice based interventions/methods. The major objectives of the association is to promote education for sustainable development by the way of organizing workshops, seminars and awareness programs for students, research scholars, government officers and representatives fromvarious Non-Governmental Organisations. 

The association acts as umbrella organization to mentor, guide and provide hand on support for registration of NGOs and establishment of various grass root organizations.For the said purpose, various capacity building training programmes have been organized till date wherein several State level organisations from different parts of India have participated. Social issues like poverty, livelihood, health, education, water & sanitation, unemployment, disease control programme, urbanisation, and youth issues of de-addiction etc. In addition, various government departments, development agencies and academic institutions have also been covered so far by the association.

APSWDP is also running campaigns/programs for disseminating knowledge on Climate Emergency, Disaster Risk Reduction, International Human Rights and Sustainable Development Goals in association with government departments, legislative bodies, policy makers, national and international organisations. 

The members of the APSWDP are professional social workers, civil servants, government officials, academicians and research scholar. Apart from Chandigarh, other Districts, Regions and States of India are also covered by the association which aims atdeveloping understanding, enhanced foresightedness and enthusiasm to implementSustainable Development Goals into practice with a vision to embrace the World.
